As we get into cooler temperatures, mice and rats are more likely to move indoors to find warm shelter, food, and water. This is why it’s important to know the signs of rodent activity around your house.
- Droppings: Droppings (poop) are found often in cabinets or pantries, under sinks, and along the baseboards.
- Gnaw marks: Rodents will chew through most materials and even damage electric wires, pipes, and walls.
- Tracks: Rats have oily fur which leaves behind grease marks as they move around.
- Nests: These are usually in dark, secluded areas and made of nearby materials (shredded paper, fabric, insulation).
- Strange noises: If you hear unexplained noises in the house, especially at night, it could be rodents running around.
- Seeing a rodent: If you spot one rodent in your home, it’s likely there are others hidden somewhere. Female rodents give birth every three weeks.
To prevent rodents from getting into the house, seal up any cracks, get rid of standing water, clean up spills quickly, and don’t leave food out. We also recommend putting bait around the outside of the home.
We offer rodent bait stations as part of our comprehensive pest control program, and we check on them during each of our visits. Contact us today to get started!
