We tested three different sprinkler setups and measured how long it took each one to put down ¼ inch of water.
Then, we multiplied that time by 4 to determine how long it would take to reach 1 inch.
Here’s what we found:
Oscillating: 5.3 hours per zone, per week
Impact: 4.6 hours per zone, per week
Pop-up system: 2.3 hours total, per week
And there’s an important difference: the oscillating and impact sprinklers have to be moved from zone to zone, while our pop-up system can water multiple zones at the same time. Same 1 inch of water. Very different watering times.
The takeaway? Measure what your sprinkler is actually putting down before setting your watering schedule.
