Happy Monday! Today’s Plant of the Week is… Cordyline!
Also known as ti plants, cabbage palms, or palm lilies, Cordyline is part of the asparagus family and it has a pretty fascinating history!
Early Polynesian voyagers carried Cordyline across the Pacific as an essential “canoe plant.” Its wide, durable leaves are still used today to wrap food for traditional earth ovens because they hold in moisture and can withstand high heat.
Some varieties show off in bright light, ranging from deep bronze and rich greens to neon pink, hot magenta, and near-black burgundy.
