👋 Happy Monday! It’s March and spring is only 18 days away! Our plant of the week is the Encore Azalea. Unlike other Azalea types, Encores see a full spring bloom, on and off summer blooms, and a final, heavy fall bloom. Another difference is that Encores need more sun, doing best with 4-6 hours of direct sunlight. They’re also considered low maintenance and require no deadheading and little pruning.

Did you know? All parts of the Azalea plant are poisonous if ingested. In historical folklore, receiving a bouquet of them in a black vase was considered a death threat. Also, Victorians walked around with White Azaleas to show they supported the prohibition of alcohol and their temperance. Check out the video for more interesting facts.
