Our nursery is filled with bright fall annuals, including our plant of the week: dianthus!
This is a cool-season plant that grows in zones 3-9. We plant dianthus in November, and they bloom until around May as an annual. Dianthus prefers full sun but can handle afternoon shade. They do best in well draining soil and do not like standing water at all! If you want a dianthus that thrives from October to May and grows great in our state, check out ‘Jolt’ dianthus, one of our Louisiana Super Plants. These are plants hand selected for their ability to grow well in our environment. If you have any questions, let us know!
