Attention homeowners (especially in the Broadmoor area): if you have a pier and beam house, are you protected from termites? Reach out today for a free termite inspection!
If your home sits on a pier and beam foundation like this, you might notice this thin metal plate between the concrete pier and the wood framing. This is known as a “Termite Shield”.
When termites try to come up from the soil through the pier, they have to go around the metal, which makes them build mud tubes where we can actually see them during an inspection. Its job isn’t to completely stop termites, but to force them out into the open.
Even if you don’t see mud tubes or any signs of termites, you could still have them around your home underground. We recommend yearly inspections to ALL homeowners to prevent costly termite damage.
